We are happy to introduce you to the uprising & talented Winston Salem-based rapper – BNOVA !

[Blaster] Thank you for your time BNOVA! What music did you grow up listening to?

BNOVA: I grew up listening to old school hip hop/rap, cloud rap, EDM, R&B, heavy metal, classic rock, and Hispanic music like cumbia, merengue, bachata, and reggaetón.

[Blaster] How did you become involved in music production?

BNOVA: I got into music production at a young age of 10 years old by creating my own EDM beats for fun and mixing EDM songs and uploading them on YouTube. As I got into rapping in high school I began teaching myself how to mix and master my own recordings because I didn’t have money to go to a studio at the time.

[Blaster] How would you describe your musical style?

BNOVA: I would describe my style as melodic cloud rap with tongue twisting triplet flows that give it a hype turn out.

[Blaster] Who writes your songs?

BNOVA: I write all of my songs.

[Blaster] Is there a hidden meaning in your music?

BNOVA: In my first single “Old Days” the meaning behind that song is about realizing that the people who you think are cool with you can always end up switching up on you.

[Blaster] Do you collaborate with other musicians? What is that process?

BNOVA: I do collaborate with others which is usually with producers for beats and other artists for features. The process varies depending if I can meet up with them in person but because of COVID a lot of the collaborations have been via the internet by sending emails back and forth and using FaceTime to communicate specifics.

[Blaster] What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?

BNOVA: Some skills that I learned that will help me are being able to mix and master my own work, being able to song-write, and being able to communicate ideas with others effectively.

[Blaster] Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organization?

BNOVA: I do not have a record label at the moment and I am not with any organization as I am an independent artist.

[Blaster] Where do you find your artistic inspiration?

BNOVA: I tend to get my inspiration through life events that have passed, events that are occurring at the moment, different states of mind, and realizations that I get.

[Blaster] What are the main topics for most of your songs? Do you think topics will change overtime?

BNOVA: The topics for my songs vary depending on what I am talking about which is usually based some life events or a state of mind that I have at the moment. I believe that the topics will always change as I progress throughout my music career.

[Blaster] What are you working on right now? Did you release something in the past?

BNOVA: Right now I am working on my latest single “Visions” that I will be dropping January 22nd. The only release that I have out at the moment is my first single “Old Days” with artist and producer 34Gerva.

[Blaster] What do you feel is the best song you ever released and why?

BNOVA: At the moment I feel like I haven’t released my best song yet as I have just started but it is soon to come.

[Blaster] Who are you inspired by?

BNOVA: I am inspired by rappers such as Unotheactivist, Travis Scott, Future, Dee Aura, Four50, and 90s Memphis rappers like lord infamous, Skinny pimp, Shawty Pimp, Crucifix, and many more.

[Blaster] What would be your dream collaboration, with any musician or producer?

BNOVA: I would really want to collaborate with Travis Scott because I believe his sound and my sound would go great together on a song.

[Blaster] How do you balance your music with other obligations – school, hobby, job?

BNOVA: Since I am a full-time student in college, I will get all of my work that I am assigned for the week done so that I can have time to focus on my music throughout the week as well.

[Blaster] At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?

BNOVA: What I hope people can take away from my music is that I still go through the same relatable everyday issues anybody else goes through.

[Blaster] Would you like to give any message to your fans?

BNOVA: I would like to thank you all for supporting me as a person and as an artist. I will be dropping more songs for you all very soon.
