He is a singer, guitarist, composer and producer who has his roots in American music and 50’s/60’s traditional country music. We are happy to introduce you to the talented music artist – Cris Mantello!
[Blaster] Thank you for your time CRIS! What music did you grow up listening to?
CRIS: I grew up listening to Country, Rock and Roll, Rockabilly.
[Blaster] How did you become involved in music production?
CRIS: I started as a guitar player when I was a teenager, then, growing up, I started writing my own songs and sing them too. I had experiences in the recording studio even on the production side. Today I can manage the whole process.
[Blaster] How would you describe your musical style?
CRIS: I would describe it as High octane Rock and Roll, with a huge Country influence.
[Blaster] Is there an hidden meaning in any of your music?
CRIS: Everything is quite clear, but, as the tradition teaches, I use quite double talking.
[Blaster] Who writes your songs?
CRIS: I can proudly say that I write my own songs.
[Blaster] Where do you find your artistic inspiration?
CRIS: I find my artistic inspiration mainly from listening to music, looking at what happens around me, in everyday life. But sometimes it’s pure fantasy.
[Blaster] Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organization?
CRIS: I work with Go Country records since 2017, before I used to publish with Ammonia records.
[Blaster] Who are you inspired by?
CRIS: I am inspired by a lot of artists, mainly: Hank Williams, Buck Owens, Dwight Yokam, and many many more.
[Blaster] Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?
CRIS: Often. I write for other artists, I produce records for them or I simply play as a touring musician, in the studio or live, worldwide. Sometimes I do featuring with whom is closer to me in artistic terms.
[Blaster] What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?
CRIS: First of all that less is more, then I learned to be more personal as possible and do what I feel. Music has to come from the guts, then managed by the brain.
[Blaster] What are the main topics for most of your songs? Do you think topics will change overtime?
CRIS: My Country matrix implies sad lyrics over joyful music, but the topics are really changing even in short time span. Actually my lyrics are referring to my life and the one of people close to me. My music is essentially me.
[Blaster] What are you working right now? Did you release something in the past?
CRIS: I’m working on a new album that will be different from the past ones. It’s something between tradition and modern sounds, that’s why I define it High Octane Rock & Roll. I have something like 14 releases between singles, albums, compilations etc. etc.
[Blaster] What do you feel is the best song you ever released and why?
CRIS: In every album there’s kind of “Best song”, but I think that the real best one is always the next one I will write.
[Blaster] What would be your dream collaboration, with any musician or producer?
CRIS: There are many talented producers I would like to collaborate with. Talking about an artist I will say Redd Volkaert. Is an amazing guitar player, the best of our times.
[Blaster] How do you balance your music with other obligations – school, hobby, job?
CRIS: I am a professional musician, so music is the only thing a I do 24/7. I’m a lucky guy!
[Blaster] At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?
[Blaster] Would you like to give any message to your fans?
CRIS: Life is too long for not working at all, but too short to do a job you hate. Find the right balance, enjoy life ’cause there’s only one, so far.
