We are happy to introduce you to the talented musician from USA – ELI THEGOD!

[Blaster] Thank you for your time Eli! What music did you grow up listening to?

Eli TheGod : I grew up listening to a variety of different types of music. Classic hip-hop, soul, rock, blues were all in my rotation heavily as a child. My father introduced me to the archives of hip-hop and soul from Nice & Smooth to Lost Boyz all the way to acts like Black Thought, Georgia Anne Muldrow and SlyStone. My mother is a huge Brandy fan and a bigger Prince fan, so that’s been playing my whole life. Early on, she’d play Erykah Badu and System of a Down. Her style is very eclectic and I think I’ve picked that up over the years. Throughout my life I’ve called Nas, Kanye, Kendrick, Chief Keef, Juice WRLD, & Lil Yachty my favorite artists at some point.

[Blaster] How did you become involved in music production?

Eli TheGod : My dad was an underground artist before I was born and never stopped creating so I grew up seeing him in the house making beats, writing and recording songs so I’ve always been surrounded by music. In the third grade, the school arranged for me to have private trumpet lessons where I would learn basic music theory such as notes and beginner scales. Two years later, I picked up the drums and it helped enhance my ear for music. When I was 16 years old, I decided to start making beats of my own and starting sending them to local acts. Eventually, I began writing my own raps to youtube beats just to see if I’d be any good and my friends have good reception so I decided to record and I’ve been going every since.

[Blaster] How would you describe your musical style?

Eli TheGod : I would describe my music style as very personal, very versatile, even abrasive at times. I use my music as an outlet to express my emotions because I’ve always had trouble with that. My number one song as of right now is a boom-bap track, yet the second is a melodic trap song. I’ve sang on hooks in an R&B type of style. Also, I still produce some of my own tracks and I’m very excited to share!

[Blaster] Who writes your songs?

Eli TheGod : I write 100% off my own music. I was raised under the belief that hip-hop not only is a music and a culture but a competitive sport of sorts in the sense that one’s individual talent and doing is what makes an artist in the upper echelon of greats. There is definitely nothing wrong with getting songs written for you, some of the most iconic artists to ever live have done it, personally i just wouldn’t elect to do so.

[Blaster] Is there a hidden meaning in your music?

Eli TheGod : There are definitely some hidden meanings in my music. Like I said earlier, my music is like a journal of sorts so all of my raw feelings find their way onto each track. I often code them though so nobody but me would ever know exactly what I mean by certain things. It definitely makes it more fun from a creative standpoint.

[Blaster] Do you collaborate with other musicians? What is that process?

Eli TheGod : Yes, I love collaboration. More times than not, I collaborate with people in my camp and in that instance I’d arrange for us to get some studio time and just come up with the music right there on the spot. Otherwise, I may have an open verse and I’ll just email it to the featured artist.

[Blaster] What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?

Eli TheGod : I feel like my writing skills first and foremost will help. Creative Writing was my favorite subject in school and music gives me a chance to nurture that need. Writing to me is like being able to create your own world and it’s a medium where there are no real rules or wrong answers so naturally I’ll always put it to the forefront of my creative process. Also, my history with production and growing knowledge of music theory will not only help me with my own production but my ear for other great music will be enhanced.

[Blaster] Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organization?

Eli TheGod : No Handouts Entertainment is the name of my label. Currently, I have one artist named Drew2Hotty based out of Linden, NJ. We’ve been tight since we were 12 years old and when I found out he was making music I told him I needed him to be my artist and he told me “say no more” and from there we’ve been frequent collaborators and we have a project together in the works. His own project “1/1” is out now on all streaming platforms! My engineer, Victor is also an artist too and we’ve collaborated a couple times together and made some great music. My photographer, ABVZNRY is also a huge piece to the team as she makes and edits my music videos and my Youtube vlogs. Also she helps a great amount when it comes to my social media posts as far as creating content. Last but not least, No Handouts Entertainment currently in collaboration with The Most High Design Studio based in Rahway,NJ. Graphic design, album art, social media content and an upcoming fashion line are all made possible by The Most High Design Studio.

[Blaster] Where do you find your artistic inspiration?

Eli TheGod : I find my inspiration through mostly my feelings and just general life experiences. I try to draw from the things I wanted to say but didn’t. I’m inspired during conversations where I may hear a cool concept or something I can turn into a line I’ll find a way to use it. I just played my sister a unreleased song and she reacted saying “we just talked about that!” I feel as if realism and authenticity are what’s really important when it comes to resonating with the fans, as it gives a wider window for world building.

[Blaster] What are the main topics for most of your songs? Do you think topics will change overtime?

Eli TheGod : The main topic of my music is my personal journey and the things I’ve seen and experienced. Some songs deal with more serious topics such as dealing with mental health, coping and keeping hope for the next day. Others are more light hearted and rooted in just having fun and enjoying the moment. I try not to keep my music boxed in to any one particular subject, or theme. I don’t like to create with the end in mind because I feel as if it limits where you can go with a song or project. My topics definitely will change over time as I experience more, learn, grow and my perspectives change.

[Blaster] What are you working on right now? Did you release something in the past?

Eli TheGod : Currently, I have a single “Impatient” which is my most recent release. It’s a song I wrote talking about my desire to level up and see the fruits of my labor. It’s often frustrating as an independent artist not seeing the fanfare you think you deserve so this song is an expression of that impatience. In 2021, I released my debut mixtape “One of A Kind” featuring the singles “Maintain” which follows a similar theme to “Impatient”, and the second single “Amber Alert” both of which have videos on Youtube.

[Blaster] What do you feel is the best song you ever released and why?

Eli TheGod : I feel like the best song I’ve ever released is either “Impatient” or “Maintain” the positive energy that the songs give off is infectious to me. Both songs were made to uplift the listener and give hope that even though things may not be where you want them right now, they can still get there.

[Blaster] Who are you inspired by?

Eli TheGod: I’m mostly inspired by Lil Yachty, Kanye, Pierre Bourne,Nas, Kendrick, Lil B, Juice WRLD,Chief Keef and Tame Impala. I feel like all of those artists are present in my mind as I’’m crafting together what a good song or project is supposed to sound like. Those artists are who I spend the most time listening to also so that may play a factor into that.

[Blaster] What would be your dream collaboration, with any musician or producer?

Eli TheGod: As an artist my dream collaborators are Lil Yachty, Kanye West and Nas. My dream collaborators as far as producers are Pierre Bourne and Kanye. I would really want to do an entire project produced with Pierre in my perfect world.

[Blaster] How do you balance your music with other obligations – school, hobby, job?

Eli TheGod: I balance the music with my job and to be completely honest it’s a blessing and a curse. On one hand I get plenty of real life experience to just analyze and I get to talk to people and kind of get a pulse of how people are feeling around me. However, I’d love to be full time as a musician because my pet peeve is having an idea and not being able to act on it because i’m not in position to create.

[Blaster] At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?
Eli TheGod: I just hope people take away that it’s okay to be free, to express yourself and to like the things you like. You don’t have to do what everyone else around you is doing. Also, but more importantly, keep going through the storm because there is is plan for you. Keep pushing, keep fighting and take it a day at a time.

[Blaster] Would you like to give any message to your fans?

Eli TheGod: To anybody who works call themselves a fan of mine I just want to say thank you for giving me a chance and believing in my art. None of it makes sense without you guys so once again thank you for all of the support and I’ll stay consistent to make sure you guys stay happy with me.
