We are happy to introduce you to the talented artist – KRANTZ!
[Blaster] Thank you for your time! What music did you grow up listening to?
KRANTZ: Started with Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Faith No More but then I heard Acid Jazz when I was 13 which led to bands like Corduroy, James Taylor Quartet, Jazzanova and then led to an interest in its roots being Funk and Jazz Funk eg James Brown, Tower Of Power, Pleasure, Herbie Hancock. This then led to Breaks, Drum and Bass, Jazzy House, Trip Hop
[Blaster] How did you become involved in music production?
KRANTZ: After leaving a band after 5 years I wanted to have control of my own destiny and to have creative control due to the experience I had with the band.
[Blaster] How would you describe your musical style?
KRANTZ: My present project is political which is the theme running through each song and therefore wanted to include a variety of genres to reach as varied a demographic as possible. Genres include Hip Hop, Breakbeat, Funk, Triphop, Drum & Bass and soon to be included Classical, Dub , Funky House and Jazz Breaks
[Blaster] Is there an hidden meaning in any of your music?
KRANTZ: Yes- to try and use music as an avenue in which to amplify public figures speaking truth to power.
[Blaster] Who writes your songs?
KRANTZ: I do.
[Blaster] Where do you find your artistic inspiration?
KRANTZ: From combining my passions of music and social justice.
[Blaster] Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organization?
KRANTZ: I’m not with a label but I am a PRS member.
[Blaster] Who are you inspired by?
KRANTZ: People who everyday fight for rights of everyday people- they inspire me to contribute and do what i can to help and music is the best way in which I can do this
[Blaster] What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?
KRANTZ: I’ve played the piano since I was 5, I’ve beatboxed since I was 10 and I also do both at the same time- this is secondary to the political project for the time being.
[Blaster] What are the main topics for most of your songs? Do you think topics will change overtime?
KRANTZ: Politics, social justice, personal empowerment, unity, zeitgeist subjects
[Blaster] What are you working right now? Did you release something in the past?
KRANTZ: Remixes of the song ‘We must stand up and speak the truth’- I released the original in August. Also to release in the not too distant future is another song featuring James O’Brien (LBC) and many more featuring Senator Nina Turner as well as a song featuring Bernie Sanders
[Blaster] What would be your dream collaboration, with any musician or producer?
KRANTZ: Think it would be pretty cool to have a jam with Herbie Hancock and get heavy into production with Tipper
[Blaster] How do you balance your music with other obligations – school, hobby, job?
KRANTZ: Music and using it for the good is the obligation!! My dog died recently and so it’s now time to focus on my vocation and keep pushing for positive change
[Blaster] At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?
KRANTZ: That it leads to introspection and that some important seeds are planted. I want people to know that there are strong and brave people fighting for them and to hopefully join the effort in whatever capacity to fight against the powers that want to continually divide us.
[Blaster] Would you like to give any message to your fans?
KRANTZ: Things can change and get better but we need to come together and join forces to fight against the powers from above that continue to sow division
[Blaster] Can you share your contact information for possible collaborations and social networks links, so fans can follow your work and access your music?
