We had a great time chatting with Jason Collins aka Jay Vinci, an amazing R&B artist who believes that only hard work pays off!
[Blaster] Thank you for your time Jay! How did you become involved in music production?
Jay Vinci: I love music so much that one day I decided that instead of listening to other people’s music I wanna make my own music so in 2016 I started writing songs while I was living in Toronto, Canada.
[Blaster] How would you describe your musical style?
Jay Vinci: I have a passion for R&b so any of my songs that you listen to will have a R&b feeling to it! But all in all my style of music is mixed between pop/R&B & hip hop.
[Blaster] Who writes your songs?
Jay Vinci: I write my own songs.
[Blaster] Do you collaborate with other musicians? What is that process?
Jay Vinci: Yes I’m currently collaborating with a artist from United States and were working on a great song at the moment.
[Blaster] Where do you find your artistic inspiration?
Jay Vinci: I found my artistic inspirations from Usher Raymond. When I came to Canada in 2001 I began to listen to Usher and he was like a role model to me! I wanted to be like him so I started singing all of his songs to my family & friends.
[Blaster] What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?
Jay Vinci: I have learned how to be patient and to have quality over quantity. Because I have seen so many artist especially on SoundCloud with so many songs but they aren’t really what they could be if they put in the time to perfect their songs.
[Blaster] Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organization?
Jay Vinci: No I don’t have a record label!
[Blaster] Who are you inspired by?
Jay Vinci: I’m inspired by usher Raymond!
[Blaster] What are the main topics for most of your songs? Do you think topics will change overtime?
Jay Vinci: The main topics of most of my songs are about relationships that I had in the past. I feel like it’s just easy to write about my life instead of making it up.
[Blaster] What are you working on right now? Did you release something in the past? What do you feel is the best song you ever released and why?
Jay Vinci: Right now I’m working on a song I believe to be really good! It’s a mix of pop with rap and it’ll be out soon. I have released a total of 8 songs since 2016, I know it’s not a lot but I was going through a hard time since 2016 and I took a little break. I have also decided to take down a few out of those 8 tracks because the quality just wasn’t there compared to songs you here from big artist like Drake or Usher. The best song that I have released is my song “Late Nights”. It’s a mix of R&B with rap, it’s a chill song that can get you in a mood.
[Blaster] At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?
Jay Vinci: I hope that anyone who listen to my music get the felling of a very chill vibe and that they can relate to the story of the song.
[Blaster] What would be your dream collaboration, with any musician or producer?
Jay Vinci: My dream collaboration would be with either Drake, Usher or Jay-z. I also feel like I can learn a lot from these artist!
[Blaster] How do you balance your music with other obligations – school, hobby, job?
Jay Vinci: Well, right now because of COVID, I haven’t been working and I’ve been living off of my savings. So, when I am not working my main job (as a electrician 40 hours a week) I write songs and record music. It can get kinda hectic but I always seem to manage. So basically right now because of COVID I spend all my time focusing on making music and promoting my music!
[Blaster] Would you like to give any message to your fans?
Jay Vinci: I might not be perfect but I’m trying to bring you the best music that I can, I’m getting better each day and soon we will be up there with the bigs of this industry!
[Blaster] Can you share you contact information, social networks links for your fans but also for cooperation with other musicians?
