We are happy to introduce you to the uprising American rapper, singer and songwriter. – JUŚTIN !
[Blaster] Thank you for your time JUŚTIN! What music did you grow up listening to?
JUŚTIN: I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Lauren Hill and J.Cole.
[Blaster] How did you become involved in music production?
JUŚTIN: Although I had been singing in choir since elementary school, I didn’t really start making music until high school!
[Blaster] How would you describe your musical style?
JUŚTIN: I would say my music style is flexible depending on what particular sound or tone I wanna produce. At one point I might want to rap aggressively. Or I might to a complete 180 and sing some R&B.
[Blaster] Who writes your songs?
JUŚTIN: I write all my music.
[Blaster] Is there a hidden meaning in your music?
JUŚTIN: I like to see music like a good book or movie. It should always be catered to two kinds of listeners. If you listen to my music there is a surface level. The surface level is for people that don’t really care to seek deeping meanings or symbols in music, they just wanna vibe. But if you love to dig deeper into music you will find deeper meanings or clever wordplay in my art.
[Blaster] Do you collaborate with other musicians? What is that process?
JUŚTIN: I do actually. Typically when I collaborate with someone I let them take the lead and build off of them. It’s a personal challenge of mine to shape my part of the song into the picture they create.
[Blaster] Where do you find your artistic inspiration?
JUŚTIN: I find my inspiration from things I experience in life. My trials and tribulations are often converted into testimony through my music.
[Blaster] What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?
JUŚTIN: Over the years I’ve really been focused on the business aspect of the industry. The types of record deals, the importance of owning your masters, investing all that. To me the business side is just as important as the creative side.
[Blaster] Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organization?
JUŚTIN: I currently own the label Loser Land LLC. But I am also currently negotiating a deal with Motown Records.
[Blaster] Who are you inspired by?
JUŚTIN: I am inspired by my mom and dad. They both worked so hard all throughout my life and I see them like a child sees superheroes.
[Blaster] What are the main topics for most of your songs? Do you think topics will change overtime?
JUŚTIN: I would say my main topics revolve around Love, Faith, Confidence and Overcoming struggles. I think that as I get older I’ll experience more things that I can incorporate into my music.
[Blaster] What are you working on right now? Did you release something in the past?
JUŚTIN: I recently just came out with my 3rd album titled Rookie 2 King. I traveled to LA for the first time and recorded it all in one, 12 hour session.
[Blaster] What do you feel is the best song you ever released and why?
JUŚTIN: The best song I feel I’ve ever released would have to be…dang that’s a hard one! Statistically, it would have to be King Peanut it’s doing the best right now.
[Blaster] What would be your dream collaboration, with any musician or producer?
JUŚTIN: I don’t have any established artist I dream of working with. I prefer to work with little known artist. It’s a lot of hidden gems in the industry.
[Blaster] How do you balance your music with other obligations – school, hobby, job?
JUŚTIN: Honestly it is no balance. I go to work to fund my music. When I was in school I studied music business so I could be more proficient in music. It’s my life.
[Blaster] At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?
JUŚTIN: I want my music to inspire and uplift people. When people listen to my music, I want them to feel exactly how I felt in ever bar, every note and every harmony.
[Blaster] Would you like to give any message to your fans?
JUŚTIN: I love you guys! Your the reason I keep pushing!
