We are happy to introduce you to the talented R&B/Hip-Hop singer, songwriter, and producer – THE EFFEX !

[Blaster] Thank you for your time THE EFFEX! What music did you grow up listening to?

THE EFFEX: I grew up on Hip-Hop and R&B music but I do enjoy listening to Rock, Alternative, Pop, Classical pretty much anything that sounds good.

[Blaster] How did you become involved in music production?

THE EFFEX: I became involved around 5th-6th grade; I started writting music then but to get into productions for myself in the 10th grade.

[Blaster] How would you describe your musical style?

THE EFFEX: Musical style I’d say is unique. It’s different from most people but I can still drawn comparisons to the big sharks in the industry. I love experimenting with different genres and go crazy.

[Blaster] Who writes your songs?

THE EFFEX: I write all my songs haha no doubt. I wouldn’t mind a writer to help assist but as of now I write 100% of my songs.

[Blaster] Is there a hidden meaning in your music?

THE EFFEX: In the past there wasn’t because I started out but over the years I found my niche behind my music, so now all my music ties into one another depending on song and vibes. I’m getting older so I can now live life and experience alot of things I can put into the music.

[Blaster] Do you collaborate with other musicians? What is that process?

THE EFFEX: I collaborate with alot of people. I normally meet them at a function and we network and then we in the studio trynna come up with something. My favorite collaboration is definitely with my guy Brendan on the guitar or OTR St3zzo and Mike T. The Shotta.

[Blaster] What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?

THE EFFEX: I’m definitely glad I learned how to do audio engineering, producing and networking for myself rather not because I’m able to accomplish so much and it brings money in on the side too.

[Blaster] Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organization?

THE EFFEX: Definitely I established February’s Finest in 2017, I haven’t signed any artists given I haven’t gave a label platform to support artists but I do host a showcase, “February’s Finest”, every year to support local artists.

[Blaster] Where do you find your artistic inspiration?

THE EFFEX: I find it from pretty much everywhere that I can. I lucid dream alot and it builds ideas in my heads I can translate. The Weeknd and Drake are big inspirations with music giving they can put me in a state to story tell and take my time with working on my art. I’m inspired by all things that I feel I can contribute my ideas in.

[Blaster] What are the main topics for most of your songs? Do you think topics will change overtime?

THE EFFEX: Experiences with women will always be a thing for me but the way I tell these experiences are far different from what I used to talk about in 2016. The style became more authentic and raw to me. Outside of women I’m only 19 and been doing hella things in life so where I’m at now I just got over a relationship with someone I’ve dated in the past. I’m on the grind chasing fame. I gotta help people in my life and get money. I’m partying a lot, doing drugs. I mean at this stage I feel I’m gonna have a lot to say this is my beginning to live and tell the stories of my life. When I’m older I’ll be more on a reflective perspective in my life, yunno? I made it, I have a whole different life from I do now so it’ll definitely change. You can’t be an artist without evolution.

[Blaster] What are you working on right now? Did you release something in the past?

THE EFFEX: Currently I’m working on my second album, and ep and then I got 2-3 collaboration projects and alot of features for 2021. Last year I did release my first album and a single and it pretty much been it.

[Blaster] What do you feel is the best song you ever released and why?

THE EFFEX: My best song released is Bad Lil Thang or Beautiful but the unreleased catalog is more at it’s most authentic and vulnerable I’ve been.

[Blaster] Who are you inspired by?

THE EFFEX: A lot of people inspired me obviously my biggest are Toronto natives Drake and The Weeknd, but I look to Nipsey Hussle, Chris Brown, and underground artists.

[Blaster] What would be your dream collaboration, with any musician or producer?

THE EFFEX: My dream collaboration, I need a song with Drake or The Weeknd haha definitely need one of those but I got some underground artists I wanna work with too.

[Blaster] How do you balance your music with other obligations – school, hobby, job?

THE EFFEX: So I currently work two part time jobs and I use my studio to make money as well; I also do Forex trading to so I can leave my jobs and focus on music more than I did a couple years ago. Its hard balancing life with people you wanna be around cause it’s a never ending grind. Missed my mother’s first birthday dinner on the 30th cause I was in the studio. I did go to the second one for New Years Eve though.

[Blaster] At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?

THE EFFEX: The story I leave with music. I want to inspire other like the ones to inspire me did.

[Blaster] Would you like to give any message to your fans?
